Recession busting online estate agent will sell your property free of charge.
(issued January 2009)
House Revolution, the UK's first fully on-line estate agent as part of their planned 2009 expansion program has today announced the launch of its first London borough office with an amazing offer - sell your property free of charge!
House Revolution's founder, Chris Sargisson, said "House Revolution is a really amazing and genuine concept that turns estate agents into 'Lovely People in Property' and estate agency into a business with real values. We are Honest and always do what's right for customers, Transparent so no more conspiracy, double dealing or hidden agendas and most importantly we offer real Value For Money. Our fees are not based on a percentage and there are no unnecessary contracts - just a cost-based model with accurate pricing and rewards.
House Revolution's 'man on the ground' in London, Karolina Fuchs, chose to leave her city job and embark on this amazing career move. With the news full of talks around recession, downturn, low house prices and closing estate agents we wondered why she has taken such a brave step - "I absolutely love the concept and the challenge and the team. I have seen this business work and spoken to homeowners who have used House Revolution who feel so enthusiastic about it. I feel that we are making an amazing difference to property owners whose current default options are rather dire. It's also clear that the high street estate agency model is dying. Their pricing, when compared to the actual costs of selling property via the internet makes the business model outdated and expensive. Customer habits have changed and the first choice for a consumer is to use the internet rather than the high street or the newspaper, coupled with a demand for service levels that impress rather that depress, annoy and frustrate.
The House Revolution strategy is to blend a unique internet-only estate agency which is designed to capitalise on the productivity gains the internet provides with real people on the ground ready to help, support and advise with the consumer's interest at heart, as opposed to their own. Launched two years ago in Norfolk, continuous research and development has enabled them to understand how to revolutionise estate agency. Unsurprisingly, it boils down to better value for money, more honesty and transparency. House Revolution delivers this with real success and it's coming to London!
Because high street estate agents charge an average of 1.5% of the selling price, House Revolution saves you a small fortune in fees. For example If you are selling a £400,000 property House Revolution will save you over £5,000.
"To say this is different from anything else out there is an understatement " said Karolina, "and that is why we are so excited by it"
Chris Sargisson commented further - "To show just how different we are, we decided to launch in London with the most amazing offer. The first 5 properties listed with House Revolution will be sold free of charge! (that's thousands saved in estate agency fees). Moreover, in case of the next 5 properties we will ask the seller to pay us whatever they thought our service was worth! After the first 10 London properties are taken on, the prices will revert back to £699 or £999 + VAT which is still a fantastic price that saves you thousands of pounds."
"We feel we are making an amazing difference to property owners whose current default options are rather dire. We would love you to join in and we would love to hear from you!" said Karolina, a Lovely Person in Property!
New Norfolk online estate agent could win up to £2m

Chris Sargisson, House Revolution's - the online estate agent co-founder and Managing Director said “Finding appropriate funding is the hardest part of any new business. We are so pleased and relieved to get to this final stage. This announcement clearly indicates that there is both a recognised and real market for a value for money alternative to the high street estate agent and we should be shouting about it".
During his visit to see some of the East of England's vibrant IT and technology companies, Competitiveness Minister, Stephen Timms MP announced the ten finalists. He commented:
"The ten 'running the gauntlet' finalists demonstrate vision and the determination to succeed. Entrepreneurship plays a central part in our recent economic success and we must do all we can to encourage it grow and develop. EEDA's 'running the gauntlet' is an excellent example of how this can be achieved through public/private sector partnership, incentive and educational development. I am impressed by what I have seen and heard today and wish the finalists a prosperous future."
'Running the Gauntlet' is an investment competition and education programme which has helped over 1,100 East of England entrepreneurs, many in the technology sector, since it began in 2005. Over 300 companies registered this year and 50 were short-listed. The finalists now go forward for further scrutiny by the programme's four investors - CREATE, Low Carbon Accelerator, NW Brown and SEP. They will also be given access to advice covering negotiating term sheets, building the right team, technology exploitation and media awareness courtesy of Grant Thornton, Taylor Vinters, Bailey Fisher ~ Executive Search, Sagentia and BBC East respectively.
Commenting on today's announcement, Richard Ellis, chairman of EEDA said: "The sectoral diversity of this year's finalists shows that the spirit of entrepreneurialism is very much alive and growing in the East of England. Our finalists have demonstrated an enthusiasm and expertise that bodes well for the future of our region's economy. While some may secure funding all will have benefited from this process and I wish them well in their ongoing negotiations with the investors."
Doug Richard, from BBC2 “Dragons Den” and chairman of the 'running the gauntlet' investors panel said: "Entrepreneurs are risk-takers who make money by thinking outside the box. Our ten finalists have shown that by grasping the opportunities offered by this programme they have been able to develop in a way that attracts investors' attention. However, they need to show a continued hunger for success if they are to secure the funding on offer."
Chris Sargisson further commented that "House Revolution the online estate agent is a totally new type of estate agency, a pioneer of change, with a passion for honesty and an unfaltering belief in providing a value for money service that will blow your socks off, which uses the internet as its shop-front, so covers the whole of the UK without the need for expensive high street offices piled high with equipment and people. Chris, who recently launched the new £499 online estate agency has so far saved his customers on average £5,500 in estate agency fees with some customers saving over £8,500 in fees on the sale of their property.
Chris is well versed in the nuances of the internet and estate agency, his influence alone helped to build his previous company, its4me to achieve a 30 million pound premium turnover in just 5 years and created jobs for over 120 staff in its Norwich offices.
